This catalogue comprises two sections. Each contains a list of Composers in alphabetical order. In section1 you will find a list of the Operas available to hire in the Composer's Original Orchestration and in section 2 a list of the Operas available to hire which have been arranged or re-orchestrated to enable them to be performed with fewer musicians than the Composer originally intended.

In each section we have used abbreviations to list the instrumentation required for each Opera. The abbreviations are listed in the following order: (which reflects the order of instrumentation found in most orchestral scores, working from the top of the page downwards)

Firstly Woodwind (eg 2.2.2.2. indicates 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons) then Brass (eg 4.2.3.1. indicates 4 Horns, 2 Trumpets, 3 Trombones, 1 Tuba) followed by Timpani (Timp) Percussion (Perc) Harp (Hp) Celeste (Cel) Stage Band (Banda) and finally Strings (Stgs) an abbreviation for a minimum of 2 Violins, 1 Viola, 1 'Cello & 1 Bass.

If a number is followed by a bracket, this indicates that a player "doubles" on another instrument eg 2(picc) indicates that one of the two Flautists must also play Piccolo. Other abbreviations of doublings are as follows: Cor Anglais (Ca) Bass Clarinet (Bs) Contra Bassoon (Contra).
A number followed by + indicates that rather than a doubling, an extra player is required for that instrument, ie 2+ Bs indicates that 2 Clarinets plus a Bass Clarinet are needed.

Rental conditions & additional information

All our operas are supplied with a full score. Unfortunately not all of our operas in reduced orchestration come with a score that has been annotated with the re-orchestration / arrangement, but we are working hard to address this problem by computerising many of our sets.

Perusal scores (or sample parts when no score exists) are available on request, although we may have to charge for shipping to overseas clients.

When placing an order, please let us know how many string parts you will need. If operas are being performed with just one player per part, we may need to re-arrange divisi passages.

Operas that in their original form have stage bands will in most cases in the reduced orchestration have had the stage band parts re-worked to be integrated into the main orchestral parts. If however a stage band is being used in performance, we can supply a set of banda parts in reduced orchestration.

All the items listed in this catalogue are available for rental only. Our normal hire charges are £175 pound sterling for the first performance, and £100 pounds sterling for each subsequent performance. Payment can be made by credit card, cheque or direct to our bank account, whichever is most convenient. We will normally issue an invoice after the final performance has taken place.

On receipt of written confirmation of your order (ie by Email, fax or letter) we will issue a contract. Music can only be dispatched once a signed copy of this document has been returned to us.

We normally dispatch the orchestral material to clients a month before the first performance. If previously requested, performers can hire the parts for longer, but a hire period of more than 3 months may be subject to a surcharge.

All music will be sent by courier (within the U.K this costs about £12) and the hirer will be charged for this, we also expect that the hirer will make every effort to return the music to us in good condition, and within 2 weeks of the final performance. Clients overseas are requested to ship hire material back to us by DHL or UPS, and not to use surface mail. An extra charge will be made if parts are lost or defaced.
